the "foodhallen"

image

hey :)

My parents, my little brother and I went to the “foodhallen” in Amsterdam two days ago. I thought it was awesome, and you guys should definitely check it out if you happen to be in Amsterdam!

image

There are all kinds of stands like these at the “foodhallen”, with different kinds of food. They sold pizza at Pink Flamingo, Vietnamese street food at Viêt View and hamburgers at The Butcher. I had spring rolls with shrimps from Viêt View, and they were delicious

Here’s a quick view on the menu’s of Pink Flamingo and Bulls & Dogs.  I don’t think you can read it, though… On the “The It’s Not A Dog (Vega)” is popcorn, by the way. Oh my god.

Well, I just wanted to share this with you. I hope you guys are going to check it out! (if you’re a New Yorker; it kind of reminded me of the Chelsea Market, even though this is smaller, and they only sell food here)

hey guys :)

I can’t wait for Christmas! Seriously… “it’s the most beautiful time of the year..” (- Justin Bieber, Mistletoe).

Anyways, I wanted to share 3 Christmas YouTube videos with you, because personally, I just love watching these.

So the video above is Mere’s (she’s my favorite YouTuber, her name on Youtube is: stilababe09) and the sweater she made (there’s a DIY in the video) is just so cute!

Because Tumblr only makes you able to post one video, I’ll share the others in links:

So the one above is from Lauren (the name of her channel is: laurdiy). In the video she makes an adorable advent calendar and more :)

The last video I wanted to share with you is also from Lauren, and in this video, she makes super easy Christmas snacks, and they just look so good!

Which is your favorite?

no-sugar challenge!

First of all: I’m so sorry I only posted once last week! It was Sunday evening, and already late, so my parents sent me to bed before I could write every post I wanted to write :(
Anyways, I’m gonna make it up to you guys: today I’ll post two posts (the ones that should’ve been published yesterday) and I’ll also post three posts at the end of this week. Okay, actually that’s just what you’d usually get.. I’ll try to post one extra, but I’m sure if I’m going to manage to do that…

Now let’s go on to what this post actually is about: the no-sugar challenge! I did (and finished!) the no-sugar challenge. In this challenge you’re not allowed to eat any refined sugars for a week. It’s very healthy and I was also just curious how it’d be without them. Well, I can tell you; it’s hard! I really noticed how much refined sugars you usually eat.
A few examples:
- when I get home, I usually eat a cookie and drink tea, or something like that. During the challenge, I ate a banana (or an apple, or a mandarin or whatever :)).
- I usually have bread for breakfast, but in some kinds of bread there’s sugar. So I ate yoghurt. The bread I eat, though, is sugar free. I read that on the Internet a few days after I started.
- That week, we went on a school trip (twice!). In the bus, everyone was eating candy. And I was just sitting there with my oats… :(

So, it was hard, but I succeeded!
I even kind of “enjoyed” the challenge. Not really, it was horrible, but it was fun trying to find sweet replacements on the Internet. If you’re Dutch, and going to try this challenge, you should really check out this blog: www.blijzondersuiker.nl

Let me know if you’re going to try the challenge!

Hi!
Like, two days ago, @httpfietje and me cooked this delicious recipe, and today I’ll share it with you :)

It’s Italian, and called “parmigiana di zucchini”. I would describe it as an oven dish with zucchini, cheese, and tomato sauce.

Ingredients:
- salt and pepper
- olive oil to bake
- 6 tbsp olive oil
- 700 gr zucchini (cut over the length in 5 mm thick slices)
- 400 gr Taleggio cheese
- 100 gr Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic
- 10 basil leaves
- 2 cans of 400 gr peeled tomatoes

This is why you’re going to do:
1. Heat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius.
2. Sauté the garlic 5 minutes in the olive oil. Add the tomatoes and basil. Also add salt and pepper to taste. Let the sauce simmer for 20-30 minutes.
3. Grill the zucchini slices. Divide them over the bottom of a baking dish. Pour the tomato sauce on top of it. Then divide the Taleggio cheese and the Parmesan cheese on top of the tomato sauce. Make another layer like this: zucchini - tomato sauce - cheese.
4. Bake the dish 30 minutes in the heated oven.
Enjoy! :)

heeey :)
My birthday was last Wednesday, and I invited some friends and family over to celebrate. Of course, I needed pie :)

On Tuesday, me and my mom made two pies: a banoffee pie, and a cream cheese pie. Because I already posted a recipe for a banoffee pie, I decided to post a recipe for the cream cheese pie today.

Here’s what you need:
- 75 gr. butter
- 240 gr. Bastogne cookies
- 125 gr. white caster sugar
- 200 gr. cream cheese
- 8 gr. vanilla sugar
- 250 ml cream
- 430 gr. cherry pie filling
- 8 gr whipped cream stabilizer

This is what you need to do:
1. Melt the butter and crumble the Bastogne cookies. Mix them in a bowl. Then divide the mixture over the bottom of a cake/pie tin.
Let it cool down in the refrigerator, for at least 20 minutes.

2. Whip the cream cheese together with the white caster sugar airy.
Then whip the cream together with the vanilla sugar and the whipped cream stabilizer and mix it with the cream cheese mixture. Divide it equally over the bottom of the pie.

3. Divide the cherry pie filling over the pie. Let the pie stiffen for 1 hour in the refrigerator.

Enjoy :)

Mocktail recipe

It’s too bad I didn’t take a picture of the mocktail (a cocktail without alcohol) I made a few days ago. I still want to share the recipe, though.

This is what you need, for two glasses:
• 18 mint leaves
• 4 tbsp sugar
• 4 ice cubes
• the juice of 2 lemons
• 2 tbsp lemonade syrup (I prefer the flavor “tropical” for this mocktail)
• 400 ml water

What you need to do:
Put 14 mint leaves, the sugar and the lemon juice in a blender and mix. Add water and lemonade syrup and mix for another minute.
Gift the drink into two glasses, add the ice cubes, the 4 mint leaves you didn’t blend and serve :)

I think this is a great summer drink, and I’d like you to try it :)

I’m going to talk to you about pomegranate. It’s, like, the best fruit ever. Maybe not in case you want something healthy if you’re hungry, then you’d better eat a banana, but in case you just want a healthy snack, pomegranate is perfect. When you cut it open it really looks like it’s bleeding, cause the juice is deep red, like blood, but don’t worry about that ;)
It actually looks kinda cool..
But when you’re done cutting it you’ll see all of those beautiful seeds (the things you’ll eat) and that’s probably part of the reason I love pomegranate so much. These seeds also taste amazing so why not call it the best fruit ever?!
Just buy a pomegranate. You’ll love it!
By the way; you’d better buy a fresh one, not just seeds in a transparent box, cause fresh tastes way way way better!

I usually eat oats with yoghurt when I’m hungry without a reason. So not because it’s dinner time or something, no, just hungry. I don’t count the reason; “because I’m always hungry and I have to eat 20 times a day and I don’t know who thought 3 meals a day would be enough but I don’t agree” cause actually that’s the reason.
Now please don’t think that I do eat 20 times a day, cause I don’t, but I just like to be a bit of a drama queen to make sure people understand :p

Anyway, when I eat oats with yoghurt when I’m with my friends, it’s usually new to them. So I assume it’s new to most of you too, and I wanted to share this little tip with you :)

I always start with yoghurt and oats and then you can just add whatever you like. Here are a few suggestions;
- banana
- blueberries
- Kellogg’s coco pops (my little brother eats them with milk but I like them in my yoghurt better)
- cinnamon
- dark chocolate
- raspberries

So let me know if you like it!
